Aussie Desert Kangaroo - Craig

Sale price$65.00 AUD

One of Australia's most successful remote dog programs is run by Warlukurlangu Artists, in the remote Indigenous community of Yuendumu. While it receives a lot of recognition, what many people aren't aware of is that apart from dogs, the program also provides a needed rescue service for many other injured or orphaned animals in the community. Gloria Morales, who runs the animal program, has over the years, rescued thousands of little joeys, eagles and many other birds, lizards and cats.

Gloria brings the animals into her home where they find a safe haven amongst her more than 50 dogs. Here they are cared for until they can be taken into Alice Springs to professional and appropriate cares. Gloria's philosophy, particularly with the little joeys is to place them with cares who will give the joeys lots of cuddles and affection, the same as the mother roo would have done.

This original work of art supports a community-based social program, keeping animals and people in Yuendumu healthy, safe and happy.
