Wall Malgarr Shield - Gaan The Snake - Mick Harding

Sale price$190.00 AUD

Wall Malgarr with Gaan The Snake Design.

Traditionally malgarr ( shields ) were used with liyangayil ( fighting clubs)
for hand to hand combat with our enemies.  I have replicated the shape of these shields in my artwork.

Gaan the Snake is a very clever hunter and only ever takes
what he needs. Warmer weather sees snakes out and about
looking for food and shelter & its mating time. Snakes can move more quickly in the warmer months, and in Victoria mostly
hiberate in the cooler months - but can be seen out if
theres
a warm day.

Hand crafted in Australia from Australian Red Cedar timber.

All artefacts come with an information card.  The card has information about the artist, artefact and design.  All designs are based on traditional symbols from South East Australia.
