Pandanus is a beautiful palm-like tree that grows in northern Australia, particularly in more the tropical areas. It is an important part of Aboriginal culture as it has a variety of uses (e.g. cooking, medicine, crafting, shelter), as well as being part of Dreaming stories.
This gorgeous weaving is made from dried pandanus and natural dyes and woven into a cup shape. The dominant colours used in this piece are pink, yellow and brown.
Measures approx. 5.5 cm high x 11 cm diameter.
