Wall Malgarr (shield) with the Bunjil (Wedge Tail Eagle) design.
Traditionally, Malgarr were used with Liyangayil (fighting clubs) for hand-to-hand combat with enemies. Mick Harding has replicated the shape of these shields in his artwork.
Bunjil, The Great Wedge Tailed Eagle, created the Earth and all the living things in it. Once Bunjil finished creating the Earth, his six special men and himself were blown into the sky by the winds created by Bellin Bellin's (Musk Crow) wings, where they live in the sky as stars.
Hand crafted in Australia from Australian Red Cedar timber.
All artefacts come with an information card which contains information about the artist, artefact and design. All designs are based on traditional Aboriginal symbols from south-east Australia.
