Pandanus is a beautiful palm-like tree that grows in northern Australia, particularly in more the tropical areas. It is an important part of Aboriginal culture as it has a variety of uses (e.g. cooking, medicine, crafting, shelter), as well as being part of Dreaming stories.
This gorgeous, coiled basket is hand made from dried pandanus and natural dyes. The dominant colours used in this piece are yellow and pink in a spiral weaving pattern.
