In the Dreamtime, the emus were much larger than they are today. They walked across Ngarrindjeri Country, moving throughout our Ruwe (Country).
My family, long ago — my great-grandfather and his people — knew about these giant emus on our Country long before scientists uncovered their fossils. My ancestors, their dingoes, and other animals all belonged to this Dreaming landscape, connected to Country through story, knowledge, and living memory.
