Replica/model traditional Aboriginal canoe in a deep red colour, hand carved and painted by Kenny Reid. 

Canoe is approximately 50 cm x 9 cm x 4 cm with white/black/yellow netting design on the sides. 

Additionally, canoe comes with:

  • 1 spear - approx. 45 cm length x 1 cm width (red)
  • 2 paddles - approx. 11.5 cm length x 3 cm width (red)
  • 4 Barramundi - sizes ranging from approx. 8.5 cm length x 2.5 cm width and downwards.

Kenny is a Larrakia man, born in Darwin, who collects his own wood for carving from his traditional Country, and his carvings are painted using traditional Larrakia designs. In 2003, he crafted the first dugout canoe in 60 years for the Larrakia Nation Museum Project. Additionally, his dugout canoes are part of the collection at the Coomalie Cultural Centre in Batchelor.
